In the eastern part of SIP, a modern hub for high-end intelligent manufacturing is rapidly taking shape. As the largest industrial land redevelopment project in the area, the APP Science & Technology Park, with a total planned area of 7,771 mu (about 520 hectares), has attracted many global industry leaders and “hidden champions”.

Last month, Brückner Group, a global leader in polymer film stretching and one of the world’s largest packaging machine manufacturers, signed an agreement with SIP to set up its Asia-Pacific headquarters in the park.

Santen Vision Park, Japanese pharmaceutical company Santen Pharmaceutical’s new manufacturing facility in SIP, was completed last April. Costing about RMB2.5 billion, the 12,600-square-meter facility is expected to make at least 840 million eye drops each year after it reaches the designed capacity.

Danaher’s Suzhou R&D and manufacturing base commenced operations in 2023. It is the company’s largest single investment in China.

ZEISS’s Suzhou R&D and manufacturing base, which is the company’s first self-built facility of its kind in China, came into operation in July 2024.

Last October, Rogers put the US$100 million “High Power Semiconductor Ceramic Substrate Project” into operation in the park.

Last November, TF-AMD’s new facility in the park was completed. It strives to become China’s most advanced high-end processor packaging and testing R&D and manufacturing base, with projected annual output exceeding RMB10 billion.

Interroll Group, a leading global provider of material handling solutions, opened the Interroll APAC Regional COE and Suzhou New Factory in the park in 2022.

Kendrion, an Amsterdam-headquartered company which offers electromagnetic and mechatronic components and sub-systems for industrial and automotive applications, opened its Asia-Pacific R&D and manufacturing headquarters in the park in May 2023.

Bio-Rad, one of the top five life science companies in the world, opened an R&D center in the park in February 2024 to develop resin microspheres and related products.

Additionally, a number of projects are underway. For example, Trox is investing US$100 million in its Asia-Pacific R&D and manufacturing base, which is set for completion in 2026.

SIP-based real estate giant Hengtai Holding and multi-business conglomerate Sungent Group have set up projects in the park to provide spaces for high-growth businesses.

An embodied artificial intelligence (EAI)-focused industrial park broke ground early this year.
